I've switched from acrylics to mostly painting with oils, and am enjoying a style that is more object-oriented. I believe the greatest life-balance comes from feeling free, and that is what painting is all about for me. This series evokes that place where we move from one phase to the next, but aren't yet sure where we're landing. There are options when limits and boundaries aren't defined. And so we float.

Named for my young son, as this was made from the large amount of leftover unused paint on his pallet on a day we were painting together. I love his color choices.

I'm fascinated with aerial views of mountains and roads and cities and water. This series is an execution of all the emotions I feel flying into (and away from) cities I love, and the struggle between contentment and ambition and maybe destiny that, for me, goes along with travel. The grid-like patterns are not literal interpretations of particular cities, but rather explorations of hope, control, fear, love, and authenticity. The exception is #5, in which I was thinking fondly of Portland, Oregon as I painted, and included (my interpretation of) the color of cherry blossom trees.
They are titled according to the order in which I painted them. The ones with multiple numbers were painted at least twice.
